Stone Belt is seeking a passionate and creative Community Engagement Specialist to provide critical support in further developing our community outreach and advocacy efforts. This role is integral in developing marketing materials, managing advocacy projects, and generating interest in our agency from the public. The ideal candidate will be able to prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion in all communications and outreach activities, while communicating vital information about Stone Belt to our various local and regional partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation: Write engaging copy for publications, social media, newsletters, and websites, ensuring alignment with our communication plan and timelines.
  • Advocacy Liaison: Serve as Stone Belt’s public policy advocate, leading initiatives from the Arc of Indiana and the Arc of the United States, and maintaining relationships with local elected officials.
  • Policy Monitoring: Review and communicate public policy and legislative decisions clearly to our constituents. Issue call-to-action notices regarding disability-related issues.
  • Event Coordination: Organize and execute advocacy campaigns, forums, and legislative events in collaboration with the Board Advocacy Committee.
  • Photography: Capture and maintain a digital library of agency activities and events.
  • Special Events Participation: Help plan and execute agency special events and exhibitions.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma/GED with four (4) years of experience in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a similar communications role. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid United States driver’s license and eligibility for coverage with the agency’s insurer. Must be able to travel independently daily.
